Climate Change and Greta Thunberg

A brazen 16 year old, Greta Thunberg from Sweden has arrived into NewYork in a racing boat last month in August 2019. Some compare her to Pippi Longstocking and some to Joan of Arc. This climate activist from Sweden came to New York in a racing boat and not by airplane (cause emissions from a plane are not good for the climate). She is here to make a speech to the United Nations on Climate change on September 20, 2019. She is in your face and tells you things as it is, no sugar coating, she suffers from Aspergers which means difficulty in social interaction and non verbal communication.

She began her war last year when she stood outside Swedish parliament handing out flyers that said “I am doing this because you adults are shitting on my future.”

She has single handedly sparked a world wide action to address the climate crisis as millions of young minds have taken to the streets.

In her address to the United Nations , she said, “How dare you? You have stolen my dreams and my childhood with empty dreams.”

What is the Climate Crisis?

As per Paris Climate Agreement of 2015 aimed at keeping the global rise of temperature well below 2 degrees.

But unfortunately not many countries are complying. And this is what Thunberg is fighting.

Her emotional speech at the UN can be seen here
