Indian Sportswomen who made the nation proud

Women have significantly contributed to the development, be it any field. The list is endless. Here are some of the female Indian athletes that made us proud.

Sania Mirza – Tennis

A former doubles world No.1, she has won six Grand Slam titles in her career.

Mary Kom – Boxing

Mary Kom is a six-time World Champion and an Olympic medalist in the field of boxing. She has 13 career golds, three silvers and bronze each to her accolades.

PV Sindhu – Badminton

The first Indian to become the World Champion in badminton and the second athlete to win two consecutive medals in the Olympic Games. She is the recipient of the sports honors Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna and received the fourth highest civilian award Padma Shri. She was also awarded the third highest award, Padma Bhushan, 2020.

Hima Das – Athletics

Hima Das also popularly called the “Ding Express” is a world class athlete and the first Indian to win gold in a track event in a world championship event.

Mithali Raj – Cricket

The test and ODI captain of India women’s national cricket team is the highest scorer in women’s international cricket and the only female cricketer to surpass the 7,000 run mark in ODIs.

Saina Nehwal – Badminton

The first Indian shuttler to win an Olympic medal, has won 24 international titles. She has three Commonwealth Games gold and two bronze in Asian Games.
