Jammu and Kashmir, popularly known as the “Paradise on Earth”, is world famous for its scenic splendor. Within the city of Srinagar in Kashmir is the famous Dal Lake that attracts visitors from across the world.

Jammu and Kashmir Police have organized a three-day water sports festival – ‘Jashn-E-Dal’ – with an aim to boost water sports activities and promote tourism in the valley. The event began on Oct 7, 2020 after three years since it was last organized in 2017. ‘Jashn-e-Dal’ has been one of the favorite events to celebrate the beautiful water bodies of Kashmir.

“Despite the Covid-19 we thought this is the time to bring people who are interested in water bodies to the sports field – to the Dal Lake. We have a very large number of participants as over 200 boys and girls will be participating in the festival,” said Dilbagh Singh, the Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police.

Such events can help promote water sports in the valley and can also enhance the future of the young energetic players planning for a career in sports. It is also very good for the mental and physical health of the youth.

“Jashn-e-Dal is being organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Police in association with the Jammu and Kashmir watersports association. The event will help boost tourism in the state and promote the talent of the performers here. I am happy that the festival has been organized again.” Bilquis Mir, International water sports Coach told the Asian News International (ANI).
