National Safety Day 2022: Date, Theme, History and Significance

The National Safety Day (NSD) is observed on the 4th of March every year to raise public awareness of all safety principles, including road safety, workplace safety, human health safety, and environmental safety. 

Started for a single day as NSD, the campaign has now been spread over a week from 4 March 2022 to 11 March 2022. On National Safety Day, the government tries to motivate people to integrate safety measures in their lives and educate others about those measures.

The theme for National Safety Week campaign 2022 is “Nurture young minds – Develop safety culture”.

National Safety Day: History

National Safety Council of India was established on 4th March 1966 by the Ministry of Labor under the Government of India. The first national safety day was celebrated in the year 1972 after the establishment of the National Safety Council.

The day is celebrated to propagate and create awareness among the general public about the various safety measures and hygienic measures that people need to inculcate in their lifestyle.
