World This Week

The world this week is an attempt to provide worldly news to kids once a week. The idea behind this is to make them get started on reading world news but it’s written in a child friendly manner and explains some concepts too

October 25, 2018 Rashi Agarwal Two tiny hopping robots successfully landed on an asteroid called RYUGU on 22nd September 2018. Ryugu is a near-Earth asteroid that orbits between Earth and Mars. The rovers are part of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency’s (JAXA’s) mission to collect asteroid sample. The Hayabusa2 spacecraft was used to launch the rovers. The rovers have been hopping along the asteroids surface, while collecting data and sending back pictures. Bangtan Boys – A Korean Pop Band making waves all over

India’s best performance till date at the Youth Olympics

  October 24, 2018 Rashi Agarwal India participated at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics in Buenos  Aires,  Argentina from 6 October to 18 October 2018. This was India' best performance till date. The age group is between 14-18 yrs. Among the 206 nations participated, India were ranked 17th on the medals tally in 2018 Summer Youth Olympics. India placed 46 athletes in 13 sports with 36 events, its largest contingent till now. The country won a total of 13 medals – 3 Gold, 9 silver and 1 Bronze. Gita Gopinath – First Woman Chief Economist IMF

In October 2018 she was appointed as chief economist at the International Monetary Fund (IMF). She was earlier also the Economic Adviser to the Chief Minister of Kerala. Gita was born in Kolkata, India. Later she did her schooling in Nirmala Convent School in Mysore.
