Earthquake in Indonesia

On Friday, 28th September 2018, a 7.5 magnitude quake occurred at a depth of 10 kms just off the central island of Sulawesi. The earthquake was powerful but shallow and with more lateral than vertical movement, not typically the kind of tremor that sets off tsunamis. A sophisticated tsunami warning system was put in place across the whole Pacific region after the 2004 disaster, which killed nearly 2.5 lakh people. Indian Naval Officer – rescued after a mishap

By Rashi Agrawal Sep 26, 2018 Commander Abhilash Tomy, is an Indian Naval Officer. In 2013, he became the first Indian to do a solo, unassisted, non-stop circumnavigation under sail. On July 1, 2018, Abhilash participated in the 2018 Golden Globe Race, which is a non-stop, 30,000-mile solo yachting competition that restricts the use of modern technology. The 18 participants started their journey from Les Sables-d’Olonne, a seaside town in Western France. On September 21st, 2018, his yacht ‘Thuriya’ dismasted in a mishap in the Indian Ocean. She is a five-time World Amateur Boxing champion, and the only woman boxer to have won a medal in each one of the six world championships. 21st September 2018 By Rashi Agarwal Google Science Fair is a global, online science and technology competition that encourages students between the ages of 13 to 18 to share their ideas with the world.
