President Kovind’s four-day visit to Himachal Pradesh

The President of India Ram Nath Kovind arrived in Shimla on Thursday on a four-day visit to Himachal Pradesh. President Kovind is the third President to address Himachal Pradesh Assembly after his predecessors APJ Abdul Kalam and Pranab Mukherjee in 2003 and 2013, respectively.

The President’s helicopter landed at Annadale Ground in the afternoon. He was received by Himachal Pradesh governor Rajendra Arlekar and chief minister Jai Ram Thakur. Vidhan Sabha speaker Vipin Singh Parmar, Shimla mayor Satya Kaundal, Director general of police Sanjay Kundu, among others were also present.

The President addressed the special session of the assembly on Friday to mark the golden jubilee of Himachal’s statehood. In the evening, he attended a cultural program and banquet hosted by the State Governor.

On September 18, his presence dignified the farewell ceremony of the Indian Audit and Accounts Service officer trainees of 2018 and 2019 batches at the National Academy of Audit and Accounts, Yarrows, Shimla. A group photo of the President with the current and former legislators was also taken as a memory at the Assembly.

On Sunday, the President received a warm send-off at Annadale helipad in Shimla and was presented a photo album comprising photographs during his four-day stay in the state.

The state government conducted RT-PCR tests of all the staff deployed on President’s duty. All dignitaries, including the chief minister and the MLA’s have also undergone the test.

The President returned to Delhi on Sunday.
