The world this week is an attempt to provide worldly news to kids once a week. The idea behind this is to make them get started on reading world news but it’s written in a child friendly manner and explains some concepts too

The US Open is one of the four lawn tennis grand slams (major championships) held in a year, the others being the Wimbledon, the Australian Open and the French Open. Kerala Floods

Kerala city is located in south west India. With its beautiful coastal backwaters, coconut trees and houseboats it is known as God’s own country. August 2018, has seen the cities worst floods and landslides devastating the city. It has been the worst flooding since the 1924 floods in Kerala. Over 483 people have died with 14 missing and over a million people have been evacuated, leaving all their lives’ belongings and dreams shattered. Parker Solar Probe

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy! The NASA astronauts are no Jack and are known to have fun on the job. The US Tennis Association and NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) teamed up on August 21 to have a tennis match at the International Space Station. The Asian Games 2018 co-hosted by the twin cities of Jakarta and Palembang were held on 18th August, 2018 to 2nd September, 2018. India had a total of 69 medals - 15 gold, 24 silver and 30 bronze medals. Athletics category has continued the trend of getting India the maximum number of medals; 19 medals in total.
